At Alpine Dental, we offer oral sedation dentistry and create a safe and comfortable dental experience for each one of our patients who have high anxiety about visiting the dentist or have a need for lots of dental work at once. Oral sedation is the answer for anyone who have for too long avoided the dentist due to anxiety or fear about dental work.
What Exactly is Oral Sedation?
There are a wide variety of sedation medication that we administer to patients to help ease anxiety and pain during treatment. Each type of oral sedation is customized for your own physical and emotional needs.
What is Analgesia?
Analgesia is usually induced by inhalation of nitrous oxide and oxygen. It results in a deadening or absence of the sense of pain without the loss of consciousness. It is safe to use and can help relieve anxiety about your immediate dental procedure.
Nitrous oxide is sometimes known as laughing gas. After the gas is adjusted to the appropriate dose and the patient is relaxed and sedated, the dentist can comfortably give the injection (if needed) to the patient, and then proceed with dental treatment.
After the treatment is completed, the patient is given pure oxygen to breathe for about five minutes, and all the effects of sedation are usually reversed. Unlike IV sedation or general anesthesia, the patient can almost always leave the office by themselves, without an escort.
We invite you to experience pain-free dentistry in our conveniently located Farmington office.
