At Alpine Dental, we use digital x-rays to get clearer dental photos while exposing our patients to less radiation. Because we are dedicated to providing our patients with the most convenient, safest dental treatment methods available, including dental x-rays.

What is a Digital X-ray?

For more than a hundred years, dentists have relied on dental x-rays to accurately diagnose dental problems like tooth decay. X-rays give the clearest picture of things like cavities between the teeth, bone infection, fractures, gum disease, abscesses, tumors or cysts. Today, dentists don’t rely on traditional x-ray processes anymore, thanks to digital x-ray technology.

How do Digital X-rays Work?

The way digital x-rays work is simple and safe. We’ll put a sensor into your mouth and then send an x-ray through your teeth to the sensor. The sensor captures the image of the teeth and sends it to the computer. After several images have been recorded, the dentist can immediately review the pictures of your teeth. It doesn’t hurt, and best of all, our patients are exposed to lower levels of radiation when compared to traditional dental x-rays.

What are the Benefits of Digital X-rays?

There are several advantages to digital dental x-rays:

  • Takes less time than traditional x-rays
  • Provides immediate previews
  • Gives the dentist large, detailed images to review
  • Eliminates costly film processes
  • Delivers finer details and clearer images
  • Allows for special imaging as needed
  • Reduces patient exposure to radiation, from 50 to 80 percent
